I had a freak accident early this evening.
I was fired up to do a little lawn work this evening.
Ripped out two small bushes by hand.
Sprayed some weeds.
Sprayed some Gardentech Sevin on the hedges so I can get in between them without being bitten/stung by insects.
Grabbed the electric trimmers and went at it.
One down.
Two down.
Started on #3...and then I lost my balance.
Oddly, it felt like someone pinched my finger real hard and really quickly.
Was going to go to urgent care but they were closed. So I drove myself to the E.R.
...do you really want to see the “before” picture? I tried to get the P.A. to draw 2 dots above the stitches to make my finger look like it has a sad face. No luck.
To my surprise, I was in and out in less than 90 minutes.
Good thing that I have a high tolerance for pain.
Anyway, have fun photo shopping my finger. Goodnight, Oppo.

Ugh. I can deal with broken bones but not broken skin. No no no no no. I was trying to slice a really crusty (ahem, stale) baguette a few days ago and the knife slipped. Got a few slices into my finger before my brain made the connection. I’m (obviously) still whining about it and I get goosebumps even thinking about it.

Doesn’t look too bad, but I’m guessing it was mangled under the skin more than it shows with that flap in the way. And long relatively shallow cuts that leave flaps are the absolute worse.
Funny how fast shit happens. And how little you notice it at first. I ran my finger into a router table once when it caught and grabbed my workpiece. Damage looked similar to that but was on the surface rather than dug in deep like yours. I remember thinking “I got off lucky, I could’ve got my finger in there...” then red stuff happened.
But I hate hospitals. So I decided couple pieces of paper towel and some super glue were good enough.
